Bamboo House: cool at Noon Day, Hot Night in the Day

Which aquarium option?
So I'm looking to set up a simple little aquarium to sit on my desk. I want to set it up in a glass vase, probably around 1.5-2 gallons.
So here are my options:
1) -one male betta fish
-some type of plant [bamboo or a java fern/moss]
-natural looking rocks, maybe a shell or 2
2) -a few [2-4] red cherry shrimp
-java moss/fern
-dark brown/black rocks
3)-one betta
-1 or 2 shrimp
-java moss/fern
-natural rocks
Which of these options do you think would work best? And also do you recommend heaters/filters for these? I'd rather not have to have a filter or heater but if it's necessary I'll get one. Also if you've got other suggestions that'd work better feel free to let me know. Thanks for the help! :]
1- Would be fine, and can live in a vase. I would do the bamboo, the others will need a good uv light source to live properly.
You wont need a heater, if your temp in room is warm. And a filter is not necessary if you do proper water changes every other week. And do not over feed.
2-Would work, with a heater, they should be kept at 70-78 degrees. And should be in at least a 2 gallon tank not, vase. But don't need a filter, wont produce enough waste.
3- Would be fine in a 2 gallon tank, not vase. And you will need a small heater, but no filter is necessary. Just make sure you do not over feed and the shrimp will clean up the leftovers.
I wouldn't do java moss in the tanks, they need a lot of uv light to live properly, they will rot in a short amount of time without it. Sometimes java ferns will work, just need to try it out. I would stick with the bamboo, just make sure the tops are out of the water, otherwise it will rot.
If you want the betta and shrimp to be happy i would get a 3 -5 gallon tank, this will allow enough room and water for the waste not to build up.
As for feeding no more then 5 pellets every other day and bloodworms 5 or so every day.
